Sunset: The Inconsolable Object – 2013

‘Sunset: The Inconsolable Object’, 2013, comprises of large format colour photographs of artefacts from the Kandos Bicentennial Museum. This moment of country town Wunderkammer was photographed on the cusp of change as the local council moved to expand the concept of the community-founded collection to encompass ‘professional’ displays and storage.

A book was produced in conjunction with the exhibition demonstrating with interweaving images the aesthetic logic of the collection and how this ‘design’ extended and integrated seamlessly into the ‘collective unconscious’ of the broader community within the displays of their shop front windows.
